Fortune 50 Change Management Initiative

A Fortune 50 health insurance company launched a major, cross-functional change initiative with impacts to people, processes and technology. Leadership needed to build confidence and trust in the endeavor and create a compelling future vision that improved the patient, physician and employee experience.

Leadership + Culture

The initiative resulted in stronger executive alignment, clearer messaging, and increased employee trust in the transformation. Middle managers and frontline leadership - a critical but often underserved audience-reported feeling more prepared and confident leading their teams, helping to reduce uncertainty across the workforce. Transparent, multi-channel storytelling with consistent and regular communication improved understanding of the change, elevated employee engagement, and accelerated adoption of new ways of working across the enterprise.

IMPACT

We partnered with executives, HR, consulting partners, and the change management team to design a unified communication and engagement strategy and plan. This included strategic consulting informed by lessons from past transformation efforts, building a network of influencer-advocates, and collaborating with the change manager to structure a sequenced, employee-friendly change story. We created executive talking points and speeches, reviewed all communications for alignment with enterprise values, and developed “Catalyst Rising” - a middle-manager enablement program providing early previews, toolkits, and resources to support team leadership during the transition. To increase transparency and build momentum, we launched an internal website, panel discussions, a video series, and an executive podcast spotlighting frontline voices and real employee contributions. As the initiative approached execution, we built and executed a plan to not just continue to build awareness and desire, but to give instructional information to leaders to cascade to their teams. A front-line leader channel was activated that included a monthly webcast to 400 plus leaders with supporting toolkits for leaders in understanding and leading their teams through upcoming changes. The participation rate in the webcast reached over 95%. A feedback loop was also launched to ensure that associates were able to ask questions with assurance they would be answered.

APPROACH

A national managed care organization was preparing to launch a major cross-department change initiative that would significantly reshape clinical care delivery and employee workflows across three large business units, impacting over 400 people leaders and their teams. With employees already fatigued by previous transformations and managers lacking the support needed to guide their teams, the effort risked confusion, resistance, and inconsistent messaging. Leadership needed a clear, compelling narrative with a consistent communication approach that explained the “why” behind the change, aligned key stakeholders, and built trust throughout the organization.

Challenge

The Work

Rebecca Willen, CHANGE MANAGER

“I’ve been leading transformational
initiatives for the entirety of my career and this project had some of the highest employee satisfaction I have ever seen, even through a time of intense, and even disruptive, change. And much of that is due to the communication approach that Jenn partnered with us to lead. Jenn’s approach to her work is passionate and empathetic. She fully committed to the mission of the work at hand, while keeping the employee in mind every step of the way. She was there as a strategist, thought partner, leader, executor and even as a coach.

Through our work, I learned a ton from Jenn that I still use today in driving change adoption in my work. It was such a gift to cross paths with Jenn, and I find myself looking for opportunities to hire her again for the chance to work with her!”
